Rekindle the romance onboard the private accommodations of our new sleeping car Pine Cavern. This completely rebuilt car from 1950 features 5 deluxe double bedrooms with private enclosed bathroom, classic upper and lower single beds, and individual climate controls in each room. The dividing wall between adjacent bedrooms can be opened to create a large suite sleeping four. The room adjacent to the private lounge has been converted into a shower room and each guest can schedule a time in the morning.
Check in to the Bed & Breakfast between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm and once you're settled in, come down to the private dining/lounge and enjoy a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres before departure.
At 6:00 pm, once the regular dinner train guests have boarded the dining cars, the engineer gives a couple of blasts of the horn and the train begins its' three hour journey through the scenic northwoods.
The Pine Cavern lounge contains 5 dining tables reserved exclusively for overnight guests. As the train meanders along tracks originally laid in 1880, your porter will bring your dinner salad, followed shortly by soup de jour and then you choice of Grilled Flat Iron Steak, Grilled Boneless Pork Chops, or Shrimp Scampi. After dinner, relax at your table and enjoy a scrumptious dessert or stroll down the length of the train to the dance car. Be sure to ask the porter to visit the locomotive and meet the engineer, the view down the track from our streamlined engine is not to be missed. You might even want to spend some private time in your bedroom and have your dessert later.
Once the train returns to the station around 9:00 pm, you can enjoy a video, have a few cocktails, or even take a stroll in historic downtown Spooner. Main street is only a half block from the depot. Your porter will be in the lounge serving drinks until late and be available throughout the night.
A hearty hot breakfast will be served in the lounge between 7:00 am and 9:00 am. Check out time is at 10:00 am. Overnight guests have secure reserved parking immediately across the platform from the sleeping car.
